Conquering The Three Peaks Challenge

At 6am on June 13, 2024, SubroSmart and several of its clients and colleagues completed the National Three Peaks Challenge. This endurance challenge in the UK involves climbing each of the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours. Our challenge involved 20,000 feet of incline and decline, 26.5 miles of difficult mountainous terrain and with 500 miles of driving between peaks throughout the day and night. It took our group about 14 hours of hiking (6 hrs, 4hrs, 4hrs) and 10 hours of driving (6.5 hrs between peaks 1-2 and 3.5 hrs between 2-3).

This challenge is difficult under any circumstances. Ours had additional complexity due to weather conditions. We had below freezing temperatures at all three peaks, sustained winds for hours in excess of 50 miles per hour, non-stop heavy rain about 70% of the hikes while exposed to the elements, low to zero visibility in the clouds overnight in the pitch blank during the last two peaks, and knee deep snow on the tallest peak. The challenge was completed in almost exactly 24 hours.

Our N3P team is proud to have raised more than $30,000 for several charities chosen by each of the participants.
